And the answer is ...................................................................... this is the Jemaa el-Fna, the central square in Marrakech, Morocco, where an explosion at the Café Argana attributed to a bomb killed some 16 people on 28 April, 2011.
Normally by day the square is filled with snake charmers, touts and salesmen, and, as in the photo below, the occasional boxing match among kids. At night the square converts to a fragrant, delicious, exotic outdoor food market/restaurant.
