And the answer is .......................................................................... it's Russia. There's a famous Bhuddist monastery, the Ivolginsky Monastery at Datsan, which nowadays is the center of Buddhism in the Russian Federation. It's near Ulan Ude, capital of the Russian Autonomous Republic of Buryatia, which is east of Lake Baikal and north of Mongolia in Siberia. This village is on the ride south of the capital to the Mongolian border.
