A mere 50-something minute train ride across the Danube from Vienna, Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia is billing itself as "Partyslava" for New Years Eve on its official tourism site. They say about a hundred thousand people filled the old squares last year, with one of every five a foreigner.
If you're heading to Bratislava for this year's New Years Eve Celebration, carry Euros. Slovakia trades in its old Crowns for shiny new Euros and joins the Euro zone this week, five years after joining the European Union.
