It is a pleasure to post a report this morning from Iran, from my friend, author and photographer Laurence Mitchell, who has just filed this story from Esfahan. It's particularly appropriate, I think, that Laurence's guest post comes today, as the U.S. is called to the polls for a referendum on change. There are elections in Iran next June, and as we read in the post below, the U.S. isn't the only country where change is in the air.
Laurence Mitchell is author of The Bradt Guide to Kyrgyzstan and posts photos on his web site laurencemitchell.com. He is based in Norwich, U.K. He's currently on a trip through Georgia, Armenia, the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh and now, Iran. I'd like to welcome fans of Laurence's work who will be reading this, and I am grateful for his post, which immediately follows. Enjoy it.
